What is Dermaplaning? Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation treatment performed by a licensed skin care specialist. The specialist will use a sterile surgical blade to remove dead skin cells and vellus hair from the face in a sweeping motion. The results are instant: silky, smooth, glowing skin. Now that you’ve decided to try the Dermaplaning treatment there are some important things to know prior to your visit.

· Discontinue any exfoliating, physical and chemical (retinols), five to seven days before your service. Over exfoliation can cause acne breakouts, hyper/hypopigmentation, redness, and dry skin.

· Avoid direct sun exposure the week before your facial.

· Schedule any facial waxing at least a week before your service. The blade will remove any vellus hair, the peach fuzz, but it is not designed to go over terminal hairs.

· Reschedule if you have any open wounds or active acne breakouts.

For the best results we suggest booking your Dermaplaning every 4-6 weeks. You can also add Dermaplaning to any facial. Enzyme treatments and Chemical peels can be more effective and penetrate deeper when the surface cells are removed prior to the application. Each treatment will provide instant results. To see a reduction in fine lines or acne scars we recommend 4-6 treatments performed monthly.

You will want to wait to exfoliate for around 3 days post treatment. Your licensed esthetician will suggest the proper home care products to keep your skin glowing and fresh between your sessions.
